I’ve been making jewellery since 1997, when I enrolled on a silversmithing evening class.  I wasn’t sure what to expect but thought I’d give it a go for a term - well, I loved it!  I stayed at the evening class for quite a long time, making use of all the big, heavy tools that I just didn’t have space (or the budget!) for at home.

In 2005, I started researching equipment to set up a home studio, and came across Precious Metal Clay (PMC).  It was pretty new in the UK then, and the idea of having a clay which turned into Silver just didn’t seem right! I knew I had to give it a go, and see if it really was what it claimed to be!  I ordered a pack, tried it at home and made a complete mess, but it did magically turn into Silver, so I decided to find out more.

I attended The PMC Studio’s Certification course, absorbed all the techniques, and that was it, I was hooked again!  I went back to do the Level 2 Certification a month or so later - I just wanted to find out what this material was capable of.

I spent many months playing and refining my skills - then came teaching.  I really enjoy teaching others how to use this fantastic material.  It has progressed so much over the past few years, and now with other metals such as Bronze and Copper, there’s even more experimenting to be done.

So, alongside designing my own jewellery and teaching I run Tiny Charms.  I absolutely ADORE working on these pieces.  I use your child’s fingerprints, hand or foot prints, and drawings to create truly personal keepsakes.  What a great thing to be able to do for other parents and grandparents.

And when I’m not being creative - well, I’m a mum to a very lively little girl so there’s not much time for anything else!!  I love it though and wouldn’t have it any other way.
